Jacmel - From the Ground today 3/3/2010

This is Jacmel, Haiti's fifth largest city, with an estimated population of 40,000.

"Jacmel is the undisputed handicrafts capital of Haiti, with dozens of workshops producing hand-painted souvenirs, from wall decorations to the elaborate papier-mâché masks produced for the Carnival festivities. It’s the birthplace of two hugely influential creative forces, both of whom have created inspiring works depicting the town, the artist Préfète Duffaut, who contributed to the amazing murals of Sainte Trinité Episcopalian Cathedral in Port-au-Prince, and the novelist and poet René Dépestre"

This is today, in front of the home of my (chosen) son in Haiti.... where he found a way, to make a better way for his community and family, by opening a store in front of his house.

the temperature is HOT, and they know the rain is coming.

Shelterbox is very present and everyone is anticipating the rain that is inevitable.
